The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Clackamas County has an opening for a Volunteer Coordinator Internship.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, managing and is some instances training volunteers for NAMI-CC. The Volunteer Coordinator will work with staff to ensure that all NAMI-CC activities that have adequate volunteer staffing and that all related statistics are recorded.

Hours may be flexible with the need, but the Volunteer Coordinator will commit to minimum of three hours each week and an average of five hours a week. A minimum six month commitment is required, one year preferred.

Responsibilities:

◦Become familiar with NAMI-CC programs, volunteer needs and available trainings
◦Be first the first point of contact for volunteer queries, send out volunteer applications
◦Schedule interviews with Executive Director or Outreach and Education Director
◦Recruit, motivate, recognize NAMI-CC volunteers
◦Collect and enter volunteer hours and other volunteer related data
◦Schedule volunteers for events as directed by Executive Director or Outreach Specialist
◦Communicate volunteer names and opportunities to Newsletter Editor in a timely manner for each bi-monthly newsletter
◦Work with staff to create volunteer job descriptions
◦Become a member and attend Northwest Association of Volunteer Administrators events as often as possible
◦Write a newsletter article bi-monthly featuring a volunteer, volunteer opportunity or other volunteer related information
◦Other jobs as assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, including use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. At minimum, the individual should possess a basic knowledge of the issues surrounding persons diagnosed with mental illness. The person should also have experience as a volunteer themselves.

This is a non-paid position. NAMI-CC is willing to work with colleges and universities to offer school credit for this position.
