General Summary:
The Video Intern will work primarily to provide support to Internews' MediaNext Initiative by creating and editing videos for promotional and exhibition purposes. The internship offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about media consumption, production and distribution around the world This is an unpaid, hands-on internship, which will expose you to a variety of video editing projects..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working as a dynamic member of the MediaNext team on a number of video projects requiring a range of technical skills
- Assisting in archival research and organizing files for easy access
- Logging, dubbing, subtitling and editing short videos and getting them production ready
- Editing video using Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Studio
- Reporting and researching graphics, sidebars and interactive elements are essential responsibilities of the job, as is building photo galleries as part of a package
- Creating additional content in small packages, focusing on one multimedia format per piece (photo, audio, video or graphic) and bringing other packaging elements together in an easy-to-navigate manner.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a graduate student or senior in college, majoring in (Communications, Film, Broadcast Journalism, Television, with experience and/or interest in video production)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of video and other multimedia production tools/techniques and stays abreast of industry developments.
- Be adept at the use of Final Cut Pro; and is comfortable with other Final Cut Studio programs.
- Have excellent skills in use of computers and online services, including current technologies used to produce multimedia and have working knowledge of development tools such as Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and a variety of Web browsers.
- Excellent organizational skills with a proactive style and the ability to meet deadlines, both self-imposed and externally enforced.
- Strong communication skills – the project environment is highly collaborative
