Burn Advocates Network, a small 501(c)3 not for profit dedicated to supporting burn survivors in a variety of capacities, is looking for an talented, hardworking, socially adept, detail-oriented, independent, reliable, and flexible professional to help sustain and grow our programs and services.

Reporting to and in partnership with Mr. Davis, President of BAN, the Fundraiser/Writer will be responsible for spearheading development efforts and cultivating existing donors and relationships.

As a small organization, we often require staff to perform multiple roles/wear multiple hats. We are looking for someone who is highly flexible, comfortable multi-tasking, is able to deal with challening personalities with grace and a sense of humor.

This is a full time temporary position with potential to extend after 6 months. Candidate will work in BAN's 2 locations--downtown NYC and 375 Cedar Lane Teaneck NJ, with # of days in each office to be determined by candidate.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • Researching potential donors and sponsors
  • Crafting fundraising and sponsorship letters, powerpoints, and vidual presentations based on such research or other networking efforts
  • Emailing, calling, and generally following up with donors and prospects
  • Attending relevant luncheons, events, and trade shows to network and raise awareness about Burn Advocate's work
  • Researching grant and alternate funding opportunities
  • data entry

General:

  • Working in collaboration with nonprofit staff to complete a range of tasks from basic to complex, including, but not limited to, publication of online peer-review journal, operational/administrative support to planning medical missions to Haiti and visits to summer burn camps for pediatric burn survivors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • some fundraising experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Flexibility with hours and scheduling
  • graphic design sense/experience
  • French, Creole, Hebrew, or Hindi a plus
