The National MS Society New York City-Southern New York Chapter hosts three annual Mass Market campaigns: Bike MS cycling event with two locations, Walk MS a walk event with seven locations, and Climb to the Top a stair climbing event at Rockefeller Center. This intern will assist with these events by expanding vendor/corporate relations to increase donations and awareness of our efforts to create a world free of multiple sclerosis.
The intern's primary responsiblities will include the following: • Research and procurement of in-kind donations – including goody bag items, food, entertainment and services needed for Bike MS, Walk MS and Climb to the Top fundraising events • Develop relationships with local bike shops and secure them for brochure distribution, prize donation, marketing and day-of-event bike repair along all routes • Assist with event logistic duties, such as site visits, permit applications, etc. • Assist with mailings, filing, and general office tasks • Research and contribute new avenues for marketing and promotion of Bike MS, Walk MS and Climb to the Top • Assist with marketing and communications projects, including website updates, as needed
Ideal candidate should be available 15 to 20 hours per week. Candidate must be outgoing, personable and have excellent communication skills, be extremely comfortable on the telephone, and be able to make cold-calls to prospective sponsors and donors. Candidate must also be flexible and able to adapt to changing assignments and schedules with a willingness to pitch in where necessary required. Ability to contribute new ideas is helpful. Writing and editing skills.
