Company One, an award-winning resident theatre company at the Boston Center for the Arts, is in search of an Assistant to the Artistic Director. This position is an unpaid apprenticeship (academic credit available). Company One is seeking an energetic creative thinker/ future leader who is looking to be immersed in the running of a small Boston theatre company. Position start time is based on the applicant's availability.
The position will include shadowing Company One Artistic Director Shawn LaCount, and assisting him in a number of areas including, but not limited to:
- Casting
- Administrative duties
- Assistant Directing one or two productions
- New play development
- Programming upcoming seasons
- Artist/Agent negotiations
Candidates should be highly organized, have a flexible schedule and be self-motivated. Knowledge of contemporary American theatre and previous experience in theatre is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or young professional looking to gain a deeper understanding of theatrical production and to have a voice in one of Boston's most important theaters.
