ORAM—Organization for Refuge, Asylum and Migration is a San Francisco-based non-profit international organization with a mission to advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) refugees. ORAM conducts education and advocacy on behalf of these highly vulnerable refugees. It also provides them with legal counseling and representation as they struggle to find security and a safe haven. We work with other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and with community-based groups in the US and abroad to achieve our mission. Goals include integration of these refugees' concerns into government and NGO agendas as well as substantive policy change. More information is available at www.oraminternational.org.
ORAM is looking for a qualified graphic designer who will help us put together the layout for press materials that illustrate our work and raise visibility for our mission. You will have the opportunity to have your work published and distributed internationally. We are recruiting for a project that will require a commitment of 100 hours for three weeks at the end of November, with a high likelihood of ongoing opportunities for support. If this particular project does not fit your schedule, we are always in need of design help and encourage volunteers to support any way they can. Utilize your skills and talent to raise awareness and advocate on behalf of LGBTI refugees around the world!
Requirements
Communications, marketing, advertising, and graphic design students and professionals are encouraged to apply. This position requires excellent computer and visual communication skills. Proficient expert in Adobe Creative Suite- InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator. Qualified applicants must have the ability to work independently, work well under tight deadlines and they must be passionate about LGBTI and refugee-related issues.
