Real Life. My Music. is a 501©3 nonprofit organization that exists to create a safer and healthier Detroit for our school children by providing them access to quality after-school programming that emphasizes structured training in fine arts; specifically music and dance.
By offering students an artistic outlet in which to express themselves and by supporting their interest in pursuing fine arts programs if they choose to do so, it is our belief that they will not only learn an art form, but also develop positive characteristics and skills that are proven to be correlated with the improvement of academic and personal outcomes.
What We Do:
We provide quality, structured after-school programming right on campus, free of charge. We are currently able to individually provide each school that we partner with:
1. Music Classes
2. Dance Classes
3. Art Classes
4. Once Monthly Saturday Field Trips
Classes proceed Monday through Friday during the hours of 3-6PM for 16 week periods during both Fall and Winter semesters.
We are working on becoming a registered DPS vendor, and hope to accomplish this goal by 2014.
We are in search of a creative, passionate and talented student majoring in marketing, communication or public relations that would like to join us in mobilizing our 2013 campaign while earning college credit.
Responsibilities would include:
Fundraising
Event planning/coordination
Social media/Community Relations
Putting out a Monthly Newsletter
Press Releases
This is a great learning experience for you, and of great benefit to us and the schoolchildren of Detroit! Any type of field work 20, 60, 90 hour, Capstone can be accomodated =)
