Africa Program Internships
We are currently accepting applications for our Africa Program Spring Internship.
Vital Voices Global Partnership believes in the transformative value of women's participation in society. Our mission is to identify, invest in and bring visibility to extraordinary women around the world by unleashing their leadership potential to transform lives and accelerate peace and prosperity in their communities.
Through leadership development and training programs around the world, Vital Voices works to expand women's role in generating economic opportunities, increasing political participation, and protecting human rights. Our Global Leadership Network of women in 85 countries represents the vital voices of our time.
The Vital Voices' Africa Program is looking for talented interns for January to May 2013. Positions are in Washington D.C. and are unpaid. The internships require a minimum of 20 hours per week commitment. Start date is the week of January 14. End date is flexible.
This position will support the Vital Voices' Africa program team. The Africa Intern(s) will work closely with the Africa team to develop various program areas. Responsibilities may include developing program materials for the Businesswomen's Network, leading research on funding and training opportunities for the Africa program and regional network of chapters, assisting with preparation and logistics for international travel, contributing to the regional newsletter, writing blog posts, managing the Africa program landing page on the website, preparing grant proposal information, and supporting the Africa team with general administrative tasks. Other tasks include researching women's issues, compiling current events, and liaising with high-level government officials and corporate representatives. Interns are also encouraged to attend various conferences and events in the D.C. area.
The Africa interns will have the opportunity to learn about program development, current, pressing global women's issues, and trends in regional and international women's advocacy. Interns are an integral part of the team, and Africa staff members will work collaboratively with interns to develop their professional skills and knowledge.
This internship with Vital Voices is a great opportunity to learn about program development and planning, but also to learn about pressing global women's issues and international women's advocacy.
